Fluid Focus Protocols
Everything we actually teach, written down.
The breath sequences, observation practices, somatic work and recovery protocols used in Fluid Focus courses and retreats — documented precisely enough to use without an instructor.
Not a course or a program. Just a reference you open when you want to know exactly what to do.

You probably know more about your nervous system than you can use.
Most people who find their way to these programs have already read a great deal of it. They have tried breath protocols, cold showers, meditation apps, morning routines, but they still get hijacked by minor stressors throughout the day.
That gap — between understanding regulation and being able to access it — is not about needing more knowledge. The nervous system doesn’t always respond to information. It responds to repetition, exposure and time.
Which means what is actually missing is knowing precisely what to do, in what order, for how long, and what to do when it isn't working.
That is what this document is. A series of exercises (protocols) that when done consistently, will change your baseline.
Seven sections. Around fifteen protocols.
Observation The foundation. Finding a sensation in the body before you act on it, and separating what you feel from the story your mind attaches to it.
Breath Four protocols for four situations — acute stress, transitions, baseline recalibration, and the all-day default. Including which one to reach for when, which is the part most guides leave out.
Somatic sequences Longer-form practices for building a detailed relationship with the body. Including the settling sequence used before dives, adapted for land.
CO₂ familiarization Land-based work with the urge to breathe — what it actually signals, and how repeated safe exposure changes the threshold at which your system reads discomfort as emergency.
Recovery What to do after. The completion signals that finish a stress response rather than pausing it, and why most recovery behaviour isn't recovery.
Programming How to combine all of it into something you'll still be doing in six months rather than something you abandon in three weeks. The most practically useful section in the document.
What to notice How to tell whether any of this is working, without turning it into another optimization project.

Protocol FAQs
-
No. Everything in the document is land-based and requires no water, no equipment, and no prior experience. The freediving background is where the methodology came from, not a prerequisite for using it.
-
Yes. It starts with observation practices that require nothing but attention, and the programming section tells you exactly where to begin.
-
Then the value is in the programming and the what-goes-wrong sections rather than in the protocols themselves. If you're confident you already know how to sequence this material and sustain it, you probably don't need the document.
-
The land-based protocols are low risk for most healthy people, and the document includes clear contraindications — cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, epilepsy, respiratory conditions. It is not medical advice and doesn't replace professional care.
-
No, deliberately. That requires an instructor and a trained safety partner. The document is explicit about this.
